The Girasol Apartment Homes celebrated its grand opening Thursday, Feb. 17, attended by city council members, investment officials, and guests on West Adams Avenue.
El Centro Mayor Tomás Oliva and Councilmember Sylvia Marroquin together held the oversized pair of scissors and cut the red ribbon. This was immediately followed by cheers and congratulations celebrating the completed affordable housing project.
Cheri Hoffman of Chelsea investments welcomed guest speakers, El Centro Mayor Tomás Oliva; Jim Andersen, Chelsea Investment Corporation; Terry Gentry, The Richman Group; Waheed Karim, Banner Bank; and Mark Klaus, San Diego Regional Center. Ed Kenney from Foundation for Developmental Disabilities gave a special dedication for George McFaddin. Scott Schiffer, of the Chelsea Investment Corporation also made a special recognition of James Gonzalez, Autism Support of Imperial County, by donating $1,500 to the support group. Mayor Pro-tem Martha Cardenas-Singh was also present.
