The Foundation for Developmental Disabilities is thrilled to announce that Chelsea Investment Corporation is the Triple Crown Sponsor for our Day at the Races fundraiser event. This collaboration between Chelsea and the Foundation aims to create a significant impact in serving the San Diego Regional Center’s (SDRC) 37,000 clients through our emergency Help Fund Program.
As the Triple Crown Sponsor, Chelsea Investment Corporation demonstrates its commitment to making a difference in the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDDs) and their families in San Diego and Imperial County.
Chelsea Investment Corporation, a leading real estate firm known for affordable housing development, has shown remarkable dedication to improving the quality of life for individuals with IDDs. Since 1984, the firm has invested over $3 billion to develop over 15,000 units of affordable housing for some of our most vulnerable communities.
In 2022, the Foundation partnered with Chelsea to support the development of the Girasol Apartment Homes in El Centro. The project involved the development of a two-story, 56-unit affordable housing complex that included 10 units for residents with developmental disabilities.
At the Foundation, we are dedicated to addressing the pressing issue of housing insecurity among individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDDs) in San Diego and Imperial County. We believe that stable and secure housing is a fundamental right which is why 80% of our Help Funds go directly toward housing expenses, such as rent and mortgage payments. The Help Fund Program is one of the Foundation’s most impactful programs. Since 1986, FDD has disbursed over 1.6 million dollars to assist over 2,500 SDRC clients. Through our Help Fund, we are working to address the profound impact of housing insecurity on the lives of individuals with IDDs. This allocation emphasizes our commitment to tackling housing insecurity head-on.
We ensure that the funds we raise through Day at the Races make a meaningful impact on the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDDs) and their families. This year’s event promises edge-of-your-seat entertainment featuring a silent auction and stimulating community engagement in a luxurious skybox overlooking the racetrack.
We extend our deepest gratitude to Chelsea Investment Corporation for their visionary partnership and continued support.
The Foundation’s 13th annual Day at the Races event will be held on Thursday, August 31, 2023, at the Il Palio restaurant at the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club.
